Completely new and huge campaign map, covering most of Europe and the beginning of Persia.- New ground types and custom climates.- Maximum width the engine allows of 510 movement tiles.- Mountains, hills and map outlines are based on satellite data.- Maximum amount of almost 200 historically medieval settlements. GenoaTeutonic OrderMUCH MORE!!!!!!Links SS 6.0Part1: Download Link SS 6.1 Patchits own thread!:drool. Either its my pc or, i get really bored waiting for other nations to finish their turn.Depends, if you installed the SS patch 6.1 and installed the BYG's GRIM REALITY mod, it increases the AI factions turn length quite a bit. Also depends on your rig, but even on mine (check sig or system specs) it increased a little. To remove it, just rerun the SS6.1 patch without BYG's selected and it should put the original files in.I used to never play with it, when i was first learning. Now i use it because it IS my favorite mod together with SS.
Makes the game SO much better!:). Ok, couple problems with this mod, as I have with Medieval 2 and most mods using the engine. The engine seems spruced up, but its origins from 2004 are very apparent, being the apparent necessity to have team colors everywhere, and no one wants to really eliminate team colors.I suppose this is really a rant against team colors, but I find them very offensive, because they're telling me as a gamer that some designer felt his audience very dumb, and had to turn the game into a 'Red vs. How to block microsoft office from internet. Blue' deal. The mod does its best to eliminate that, I found the Byzantines very well done, very well modelled, and very detailed. Zoom out, and well, you have a the candy color purple men prancing around the map. Please, the Byzantines never wore purple, only their king did in court, and the Byzantine flag was red, not purple. Or blue.In regards to some players complaining about not being able to determine friend from foe, well, what about the massive banners floating over each unit's head? I will vouch for this mod, it's fantastic fun and certainly makes the game harder if you install the other mods like the supply mod with it.

I think there was a bug though with one of the extra mods that made it so that some of the units were bugged and you could never recruit them. There was an easy way to fix it but hopefully that problem is gone now. All in all it's great fun!
The Teutonic Order, fuelled by a need to redeem their souls through conquest, has grown into an unrivalled military power on the shores of the Baltic. Their religious fervour comes at a great cost to the lives of their pagan and Orthodox neighbours, but even their fellow Catholics are not exempt. They war with many and are trusted by none.

Knights Templar & Teutonic Order:drool:Minor grips, also, no matter how hard modders try, they still can't try and capture any sort of atmosphere that Rome Total War had. That was a great game, I could easily spend hours playing that.Medieval 2.well I tried devoting myself too it, but I got bored. Music was bad, game was souless, no it didn't have it. I realized there's no point in trying to force myself to blow time on something that didn't deserve it.Definately agree with this though.

You just can't beat Rome, there's just something about that game. Thanks pirate, but I dont see any mention of dismemberment like that other mod, but perhaps I just missed it.
I have an older version of crimsen tide but will try this and let you know:)nas01Yr0kEY&Howeverniko never came back to tw as far as I know and release itthat stuff from Niko is months old afaik, saw his stuff in the cemetery 2 months ago or something and I saw that video something like a year ago, really a pity that we cant use it, but I care the most about the blood, a nice fountain out of someones throat after the original animation that niko modified would get me my daily erection for sure.Yeah, crimson tide is excellent, CRIMSON TIDE satisfies the starter of this thread:D. Thanks pirate, but 2 things.there is no decapitation. Which is a shame.:(secondly the blood is great when looking close up, but I cant see anything when zoomed out, and unfortunatly I overwrote my old mod with this new one. The old mod had plenty of blood even when zoomed out and I cant remember the name:cry:but on the plus side, arrow hits and seige weapon hits look great:lol: and at least there is still some blood, so the way I see it, I lost a half but gained 3 quarters:p if thats makes sense.
'improve UI and presentation' is a pretty wide statement. It'll take an assload more for it to be fully realtime as it is now.Meh, I guess I'm a traditional.
I want Total War to be more like original Shogun:bleh:Lots of territories where emphasis is put on controlling the unique land rather than cities and castles (which is a stupid concept to begin with, castles should be buildable). No free form movement that occupy half your playing time in a stupid attempt by the developers to simply make it take longer to play (lets make this 2000 man army move here. Oh no, 1 peasant is blocking our path, lets GO AROUND THE WHOLE F.KIN CONTINENT!). Bonus for this: its easier to do in realtime (like EU, but its far too little detail);).
Or blue. There were also never people who referred to themselves as 'Byzantines.' The denizens of of the Byzantine Empire thought of themselves as Roman. Really why are you bitching about the color? Its just a device to make it easier on the player to display whose units are whose.
There were also never people who referred to themselves as 'Byzantines.' The denizens of of the Byzantine Empire thought of themselves as Roman. Really why are you bitching about the color? Its just a device to make it easier on the player to display whose units are whose.Yes yes, I know they referred themselves as the Romanoi, or known as 'the Greeks' in the West; my point is, it's an obnoxious, candy color sheen, and for the sake of atmosphere and grittiness, which are valid things to be concerned about for a 21st century game, the candy colors don't cut it.

Sadly the game is still too buggy/badly made for any mod, even this one, to save it.Its bugged and flawed, but its still a great game.Back to the mod itself: how the f.k do one recruit units with that extra 6.1 mod recruitment/supply mod installed? I even installed the needed fix for 6.1, I place my leader (which can recruit 'early proffesional' units according to traits) in a castle to recruit armoured sergants ('early proffesional') but. It still says some silly number like 5 turns until its available (and doesnt change at all no matter how many turns you wait). As it stands, I am forced to engage the entire middle east with peasants. Finally playing SS 6.2 + RR/RC + HUGER unit size and it's amazing! Who cares with ETW and NTW:lol:(really like the BGR feature on it though:( - troops supply system. So if your troops spend too much time in enemy territories it will have huge morale cut after they run out of supplies.too hardcore IMO.

And drastically lowering my hope for really huge battles:(.
FeaturesNew Unit Rosters for Novgorod and Kievan RusUsing the brilliant work of the Rusichi: Total War team, BftB2 features all new revised unit rosters for the two Rus factions. This means that the two rosters are more similar to each other but more unique in the context of the whole game. Because of Novgorod’s proximity to the west, its roster is geared towards heavy infantry and cavalry. Kievan Rus, being closer and more influenced by the peoples of the steppe, will tend towards infantry and mounted archers. New late era armour upgrades for Ritterbruder:New Unit: Reysen KnightsThese are knights who have responded to the call to crusade against the pagans of the Baltic. With crusading in the Holy Land getting more and more difficult, it became more and more popular for knights and nobles to fulfill their crusading vows by fighting the enemies of christendom that were closer to home. While not members of the Teutonic Order, they would accompany the Order on it's reysen (raids) into Lithuania.
The Order would sometimes even organise reysen especially for notable guests.New Unit: StrutereAlso known as latrunculi, these prussians were allowed to terrorize the lands of the Order's enemies. They murdered their foes in bath-houses, in bed or at feasts. Because they knew all the secret paths through the dense Baltic forests, they often acted as guides for the Order's reysen (raids) into Lithuanian territory. The fear these marauders cause is almost palpable.Novgorod Republic Government TraitsHistorically, Novgorod was ruled by the Veche council. The Veche was an oligarchic body made up of the landed boyar nobles and the wealthy Novgorodian merchants.
Often, the ruling Kynaz of Novgorod would be ejected from his position by the Veche and a new Kynaz would be invited to take his place. This is now implemented in Battle for the Baltic. Novgorod no longer has a family tree as it only rarely that a son would follow his father as Kynaz.
Each general now has a 'Veche Approval' trait that shows what the Veche thinks of him. If he performs well and does things the Veche like, his approval will improve. This gives him a greater chance of becoming the next Kynaz. Conversely, if the Veche do not approve of his actions, then there is every likelyhood that he will never be more than a general.
The Veche are mostly concerned with security of the Republic and trade. So winning battles, building trade buildings and lowering taxes will win the Veche's approval. Losing battles and setting high taxes will lose approval for that general.New Feature: Italian RepublicsNothing to do with the Baltic, but the republic government trait system used for Novgorod has been extended to include the other two historical republics in the game: Venice and Genoa.
These two factions no longer have family trees and use authority to determine the next heir just like Novgorod.Updated Russian terrain and settlements in the main Stainless Steel campaignsThe Russian regions on the main SS campaign map have been updated to include more important cities (i.e. Vladimir, Rostov). The famous rivers of Russia are also more prominent now. There is also a new settlement south of Kiev, which no longer controls the land all the way to the Black Sea. 2 turns per year timescale. Limited settlement development.
Not all settlements on the map can grow to full size. Some will only ever be villages, others only towns. This has been done to limit the number of sieges and also so that the Baltic doesn’t become one huge sprawling metropolis. Town square building. Every settlement on the map has a town square building.
To the player it provides no bonuses but it gives the AI boosts to public order and religious conversion. This is so the AI’s settlements don’t rebel every 5 seconds and limits the flood of heretics/witches.
Historical figures will come to help the Teutonic Order. Henry Bolingbroke, Jean Boucicaut and John of Bohemia will all lend their swords to the Order’s cause. If they succeed in their missions, they will leave a sizeable donation to the Order. If their mission is a failure, their donation will be smaller or possibly even nothing. Lithuania will get counter missions to kill the crusading nobles. Novgorod now has to deal with Mongol tax collectors. Take the battle to the seas!
AI factions now spawn fleets.Improved Hanseatic LeagueThe Hanseatic League is now a proper guild with three distinct levels like all guilds. However unlike other guilds, the League buildings only become available after 1253 (the historical founding of the League).
