Star Trek Armada 3 Release Date Release
So, after quite a few hours of gameplay on the latest version STA 3: The Final Frontier AND following that even more game time on STA 3: Nemesis, I can say that I do notice a difference. Basically it all boils down to STA 3: TFF maintaining it's enormous diversity, but paying the price for that by becoming increasingly sluggish as the game develops playing the large and especially the huge multi-star maps. STA 3: Nemesis is much leaner and meaner. The AI in hard setting is quite challenging. You can notice the renewed engine doing it's work through the AI's response and even in a multi-star 8 player map the game didn't slow down like TFF did. Can't wait to try out the multi-player option. The event will be up on the calender soon!-Updated -If you want to know more about the differences in the 2 STA 3 versions, read this:Have fun! OK, so during the last event and during private games I have stumbled upon lag issues during multiplayer games with Nemesis. The circumstances were pretty intense: 3 human players and 3 AI's on Boldly Go settings, al with large fleets and quite a few planets, with developed trade options.

The game didn't shudder to a halt, but there was significant 'stuttering' in ship movement within the systems of the map.The game did remain playable, however. With single player games so far no issues. Has anyone else encoutered this problem? Pardon my late reaction - I was on LoA for holidays. Interesting point Kirk, that STA 3 becomes repetitive over time, but then again, name a game where you don't have to repeat the same basic actions over and over again. Whether it be the quests in Warcraft (kill so many of these or gather so much of that), collecting minerals and gasses and researching the same old tech tree in Starcraft.
I think every game has a repetitive element. The thing that really surprises me in STA 3: Nemesis is that the response of the AI seems a lot more coordinated and intelligent. This generates for me a very surprising and fun element in the game, it's a lot harder to predict the AI's response. Also when AI's are in an alliance, they seem to really to combine their forces against their enemies. So yes, of course there are the repetitive elements in STA 3, but with Nemesis I find that every game has a different edge and tactical situation, especially with this AI.-Updated -I'd really like to hear more game playing experiences from all you STA 3 players! Please feel free to place your comments here, or respond to an earlier posting! I always turn the random events off They seem to have some kind of special sense to happen precisely at the same moment you're dealing with a huge fleet battle on the other side of your territory.I hadn't read about the Dominion bug yet. So thanks for mentioning it here! Please report all bugs to the developers through ModsDB!They really appreciate your feedback! We have regular STA 3 events on Friday evenings.
We're kind of in a Summer stop at the moment, but if any of you feel like a STA 3 event, just send me a pm and I'll gladly set something up.
