4 April 2016 at 04:31I had this problem after backing up my computer. I did a system install – fine. Made a restorepoint – fine. Backed up to an external harddrive, to the wrong directory (documents on C) which caused my harddrive to get full. I deleted the files.However, now my D partition was no longer available by clicking on it directly. My CD could still access programs on the D partition. It turned out all the files were still there, however the solution was to turn off UAC in startcommand: msconfighelpprograms.
This worked and I regainced control of the D partition.However, now the network icon in the dt tray states: “Verbindingsstatus: onbekend. Afhankelijkeheidsservice of -groep kan niet worden gestart.” Considering that the ‘missing’ D drive letter was a matter of turning off User Account Control (UAC), I hazard a guess that the missing icon also has something to do with missing permissions or security settings for the main profile.So does anyone a) have experience with this problem and b) did they do something about UAC, profiles or virus software to do solve it?I’ve been on this for almost 2 days now.OS: Windows Vista Home PremiumComputer: Acer Aspire T671. 15 November 2016 at 13:42I would find the driver download page for your puter and/or network adapters, grab the latest Win 8 driver, uninstall the current ones, and install the newer ones. But first, you could just uninstall any drivers (from Control Panel, usually) related to all network adapters, and just see if the default Windows ones will work. The danger here is that if Win 8 doesn’t have a built-in driver that works, you’ll be left without any network connectivity! So, it’s kind of a pickle. In situations like that, I make sure to have a second puter at hand that’s working well so I can download drivers, put them on a USB stick, and transfer them over to the non-functional puter.

Wifi icon missing as well as not working. My wireless icon went missing although it's clearly had shown that the. I'm running on windows 10. Fix – Wi-Fi icon missing Windows 10 Solution 1 – Reinstall your wireless adapter drivers. Solution 2 – Turn off Wi-Fi Sense. Solution 3 – Change System icons settings. Solution 4 – Make sure that your wireless adapter appears in Device Manager. Solution 5 – Make sure that Airplane mode is turned.
When he runs a diagnostic, the fix is to plug in an ethernet cable which we don’t have as we’re wireless on a network. Our other two computers on the network never have this issue so I suspect it’s the computer itself. Restoring the computer back a day or two sometimes works, but even that can be iffy.

He’s tried updating the drivers, uninstalling/reinstalling them, lets Windows do updates, etc. We’re a small company and I’m the designated IT Department (lol) but this has me stumped as the network aspects of computers are beyond me. Any ideas why this fix is only temporary?
